NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) — A worker was killed Thursday after a powerful explosion tore through a pharmaceutical chemical plant in Massachusetts, ripping the roof off the building and prompting a U.S. senator to demand accountability from the plant’s owners.Acting Newburyport Fire Chief Stephen Bradbury did not publicly identify the person who died, but said crews recovered the body from the building. Initially, the search was hampered by concern about the plant’s structural integrity following the blast that sent flames leaping high above the building and scattering industrial debris nearby.Bradbury described the blast as a “seven-alarm hazardous materials” event.Four other workers were sent to the hospital as a precaution, but were uninjured and released. The explosion prompted U.S. Sen. Edward Markey to demand greater accountability from the troubled facility.Authorities said there was no threat to the local population or to homes near the Newburyport building, but fire...Millions pledged for oil transfer from tanker off Yemen

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Donors pledged an additional $5.6 million Thursday that will enable the United Nations to start transferring more than 1 million barrels of crude oil from a rusting tanker off the coast of war-torn Yemen that poses a major environmental threat, but the U.N. said nearly $24 million is still needed to offload all the oil. A large vessel called the Nautica, which was purchased by the U.N. Development Program in March to take on the oil from the FSO Safer, is expected to arrive in the region in the coming days and the transfer operation is expected to start before the end of the month, U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said. The UNDP said Egypt, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, South Korea, the United Kingdom and private company Octavia Energy and its subsidiary Calvalley Petroleum announced pledges totaling almost $8 million, of which $5.6 million represents new funding. With the new pledges, the U.N. has now raised $105.2 million for the operation to remove...House members debate drastically changed land-use bill

Bill would raise prosecution age from 10 years old "Friends, Colorado has a problem when it comes to housing. We do not have enough of it, and this isn't just a problem in my district but it's a problem in all of my colleagues' districts across the General Assembly," bill sponsor Rep. Iman Jodeh, D-Aurora, said at a news conference announcing the changes on Tuesday.Everyone seems to agree on the issue: Colorado...One Championship lands in Broomfield with debut US show

Unlike the real thing, an operator can execute daring moves in these vehicles and not get hurt. For more than 20 years, Vinny Indolini has been racing RC cars. His favorite place to race is the Colorado outdoors. United plans to hire 15,000, including 2,300 in Denver "The appeal of it is that you’re out here in Mother Nature, which is really nice like today. It’s a gorgeous day. We get a little cloud cover from time to time, but that means you’re not baking all day long," Indolini said.Indolini said his favorite person to do this with is his wife, Stacee, who never raced RCs before they met."We had just started dating and he asked me to come out to Wheel Park with him, and I used his Rustler to bash with," she said. “After that, I was like, ‘OK, I can’t get into this.'"These four-wheel-drive remote-control trucks are agile, and portab...Latest news
