NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — It's been 26 years since James Loxley underwent a life-saving kidney transplant after a donation from his father."I have been able to live life to the fullest with that transplant," Loxley said. It's also when he began taking 25 milligrams of the drug Neoral, which is an immunosuppressant commonly used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant. The drug is imperative to the continued success of Loxley's transplant, and when he suddenly couldn't get ahold of it, he became concerned."The pharmacist said to me, 'We have a situation going on. There's a national shortage of this medication,'" his wife, Linda Loxley, recalled."I am scared," her husband added. "If this medication [isn't available], what is going to happen to the life-saving transplant that I received from my father?"With the help of Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), the couple received an emergency supply of Neoral, though only enough to last James Loxley two weeks."I don't want to lose h...Outdoor patio at Austin airport closed; space set to become a private lounge

"It was a sort of self-fulfilling thing." Passenger growth at Austin’s airport is hitting forecasts five years ahead of schedule The new lounge, called Sapphire Terrace, will be open to passengers with Chase Sapphire Reserve credit cards. JUPITER, Fla. - Many of the well-known St. Louis Cardinals players are away from the team for the World Baseball Classic, marking quite an opportunity for a surprise visit from a franchise legend. Albert Pujols, nearly half a year removed from his historic retirement tour, paid a visit to the Cardinals' spring training home Roger Dean Stadium on Thursday. Only a small handful of people, Cardinals teammates, staff and beyond, knew he would stop by his longtime spring home. He texted manager Oli Marmol and a few others for permission to come and make the most of his trip to Florida. "I wanted to stop by and say hi to the guys," said Pujols. "I was here visiting my grandma in Port St. Lucie for a couple of days. I'm on my way to Miami right now for some business." By JOSH BOAK (Associated Press)PHILADELPHIA (AP) — As political gridlock puts the government at risk of defaulting, President Joe Biden on Thursday made an opening bid with a budget plan that would cut deficits by $2.9 trillion over the next decade — a proposal that Republicans already intend to reject. It’s part of a broader attempt by the president to call out House Republicans who are demanding severe cuts to spending in return for lifting the government’s legal borrowing limit. But the GOP has no counteroffer so far, other than a flat “no” to a Biden blueprint with tax increases on the wealthy that could form the policy backbone of Biden’s yet-to-be-declared campaign for reelection in 2024.Striding around a stage at a union training center in Philadelphia, Biden seemed to be in full campaign mode as he spoke about his plan for the government’s finances and how his values contrasted with Republican priorities.“I just laid out t...Latest news
